Knives Out 2: Release date, cast and latest Glass Onion news
We now have an official title for the sequel inspired by Agatha Christie...
The Knives Out follow-up, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is finally upon us, following Daniel Craig's enigmatic detective Benoit Blanc returning to analyse more eccentric suspects as part of a brand new case.
The first Knives Out was a huge success with fans when it landed in 2019, with the Agatha Christie-style whodunnit earning a worldwide gross of more than $300 million, and so naturally the sequel had some big shoes to fill.
Talking about measuring up to the 2019 film, cast member Kathryn Hahn said of Glass Onion: "It felt like such a brand new thing and it felt so its own."
She added to Digital Spy: "The only thing that was connecting them was Daniel and so I trusted him and then the script itself was so its own bird, and I just felt like I just trusted that it would be what it was because of Rian [Johnson]."
Leslie Odom Jr said: "The first one was so successful and they were all so great. So I wanted to make sure that I… don't know!
"I just wanted to hopefully bring something in the characterisation that was as rich and interesting as I thought they all were."
Alongside Hahn (WandaVision) and Odom Jr, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Edward Norton (The French Dispatch), Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), acclaimed musician Janelle Monáe and Iron Fist's Jessica Henwick star in the movie.
Henwick previously she thought fans would be "happy" with the sequel.
"Daniel was back and Benoit has his style and his flair that is very specific to this film series, and yeah, it's gonna hit all the same fun beats. It's such a ride," she told RadioTimes.com.

Knives Out 2 release date
While the highly-anticipated sequel was originally set for an exclusive December 2022 Netflix release, it was announced in October that Knives Out 2 would first become available in select cinemas for a one-week-only “special sneak preview" from 23rd November.
The streamer had previously teased that the sequel would play “in select theatres on a to-be-announced date".
“This is an exciting moment in our relationship with streaming platforms and for the wider ecosystem as a whole,” said Tim Richards, Founder and CEO of Vue International.
“Studios have recognised the value of the theatrical window and now we’re seeing Netflix embracing the big-screen theatrical release, too. The Knives Out franchise has a huge following and it’s fantastic that fans of the first movie will be able to experience Glass Onion on our big screens — where all great films deserve to be seen.”
Scott Stuber, Netflix’s head of global film, added: “We’re excited to offer fans an exclusive sneak preview of Rian’s incredible film. Given the excitement surrounding the premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, we hope fans will enjoy this special theatrical event in celebration of the film’s global debut on Netflix in December.”
The film hosted its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, and is also showed at the London Film Festival.
When is Knives Out 2 coming to Netflix?
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery lands on Netflix on 23rd December 2022.
The first Knives Out began filming in October 2018, wrapped in December 2018, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in December 2019.
Knives Out 2 cast
The full cast of Knives Out 2 has been announced, and Daniel Craig is returning in the lead role as Benoit Blanc.
Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monáe and Madelyn Cline have been cast as the new group of suspects.
The first Knives Out was an extremely star-studded affair, with Craig joined by Chris Evans as the unruly Ransom Drysdale, Jamie Lee Curtis as Ransom’s mother Linda Drysdale and Christopher Plummer as Harlan Thrombey.
The flick also featured rising stars Ana de Armas as Harlan’s nurse Marta Cabrera, Katherine Langford as Meg Thrombey and Jaeden Martell as Jacob Thrombey.
Besides Craig, none of the other original cast members return. Indeed, Jamie Lee Curtis previously took to Instagram to reveal the Drysdale family would not be making a comeback, joking they were in counselling and their “therapist suggested they stay away from Benoit Blanc in the future”.
She added: “As the family spokesperson we wish the filmmakers all our best in their new venture.”
Knives Out 2 plot: What is the sequel about?
Benoit Blanc is going to Greece, where he will "peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colourful suspects", according to Netflix.
Talk of what the Knives Out sequel may look like has been ongoing since the original release, but Rian Johnson has made clear that future films will be part of an anthology of standalone stories, rather than a continuation of the previous plot.
In February 2020, he told The Hollywood Reporter: “Think of it just like another Hercule Poirot novel from Agatha Christie, so a whole new location, whole new cast.”
